Shamsideen Musa, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician providing outstanding services to men and women of all ages in Anchorage, Alaska. At his private practice, Algone Anchorage Interventional Pain Clinic, Dr. Musa focuses on restoring mobility and reducing discomfort for patients living with chronic pain.

Dr. Musa earned his Bachelor of Science in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During his time in college, he attended the Summer Health Professions Education Program at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Musa was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship and was one of only 10 students nationwide to receive the prestigious National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship.

Dr. Musa attended the University of Chicago Medical Scientist Training Program, where he earned a master’s degree in cancer biology and undertook research at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, as part of his studies. He then completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine.

After graduating in 2013, Dr. Musa moved to the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas to complete his residency in anesthesiology and studied for a fellowship in pain medicine at UT Health Center at San Antonio. During his fellowship, Dr. Musa presented his work at the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA) regional conference. He was awarded an additional scholarship by ASRA for training in advanced neuromodulation techniques.

After completing his fellowship program in 2017, Dr. Musa opened Algone Anchorage Interventional Pain Clinic. He cares passionately about the welfare of patients who are coping with long-term health problems that cause chronic pain and offers the most up-to-date, advanced approaches to pain management. Dr. Musa’s goal is to free people from the prison of chronic pain and help them live the rich, rewarding lives they deserve.

When he’s not helping his patients at Algone Anchorage Interventional Pain Clinic, Dr. Musa and his wife enjoy traveling and cooking together, and love to spend time exploring the beauty of Alaska. Dr. Musa is also a certified Spanish medical interpreter.
